In His Memory

He was a handsome little boy in 1926 at age of seven,
With his bib overalls and curly blond head of hair;
He wore knicker pants and more blond curls at age of eleven.
A uniformed Marine he was at twenty-two,
About as handsome as they come--this man with eyes of blue.
In his Platoon on Guadacanal there were seventy-five of them!
And on to other battles where they proved themselves as men.
He then became a husband and a father to our "Den",
At this time he was a farmer and a handsomely dressed young fellow,
His ways were fun and laughter and his life style was quite mellow.
In 1963 he chose to be a salesman; his customers loved his ways!
They gave him orders and heaped his head with praise.
His neighbors loved his manner; all his friends were staunch and true,
Amid his presence, with his liveliness, few of us were blue!
Marine Reunions were a pleasure, there was good living for this man;
To his family he gave devotion--how we loved him! all we can.
He was my Husband, Friend and Lover; a Companion I could Prize!
I will always cherish memories; He was a man to Idolize.

Home To Heaven

Intensely I remember him-my husband, soulmate, friend,
Involved we were in living life and laboring till the end;
Invigorated by one another, we multiplied our gain,
Intrigued by love and happiness we covered well our pain!
Investigation filled our lives; we searched for this and that,
Intent on treasure, we unearthed some fine ones-a glass hat;
In travelling we were never lost, for we had studied well,
Instinct told us where to look and what to keep and tell.
Immeshed in love, content in life, we celebrated much,
Ideally we found best of friends and we did keep in touch;
Illimitable efforts together, we amassed a grand estate,
Illness took him home to heaven, my late, beloved mate.

My Sentence

In the foyer of my beauteous place-a springtime's day,
In my hall of splendid photographs, on pathways, in play;
In our town of churches, on our host of waterways,
In all the pretty places I have seen in all my days;
In a yard of lilacs and wherever pine trees grow,
In all the darkness I have seen, in every moonbeams glow;
In woods and meadows, on lakes and streams, on a starry night,
In happy hours, on pine needle bed, in darkness and in light;
In cathedrals-sacred portals, even all alone,
In hours of pain, in hours of joy, and all things I have known;
In all the days since first you came to share my love in part,
In all these places all I know is, I love you, dear heart.

Potent Power in Purple

A magnificent fragrance-these lovely lilac blossoms!
The excuisite, soft feel of the cone is exalting;
No great splendor in the grass in springtime
Could ever match or surpass these potent, purple gems.
This is the first flower my "Lester G." ever brought to me;
I shall ever cherish the flowers and the vivid, sweet memories.
