Marianne, having started writing poetry at age eight, attributes her appreciation of poetry to her father. Her poetry has been published in Poetry Parade, Overview, Ltd., by World of Poetry, The National Library of Poetry, and Sparrowgrass Poetry Forum. She is on the threshold of having her first book of poems published. Marianne is a graduate of Rutgers-The State University and works as a teacher of Adult Education, a home instructor, and a substitute teacher. Marianne believes, "Life is a dream driven in a definited direction by decisive determination." She also maintains, "Happiness is achieved through the appreciation of the little things in life." |
The PaintingI paint the picture of my soulAs a ship that sails the sea, A ship that knows not where it is, Or who it'll come to be. I paint the boat that lets it drift, I draw the mast so tall, I paint the sail the brightest white, And hope it doesn't fall. I paint the sea that carries me, Both stormy and serene; I paint it deep as life will be When I want to drift along. I paint the sky with clouds of gray, That turn the peace to strom, That build a wind with forceful gusts, Which leaves the ship forlorn. | The Artist Is GoneThe Artist is goneLeft without a good-bye.. Left paintings undone... His spirit to fly Away from this place To where no one knows; And hiding his face From the cold wind that blows: The Artist is gone. The Art, it will stay-- For comment and pause, For striking display, To point out the flaws; And it will preserve The glamour and charm With further reserve For silent alarm: The Art, it will stay. The Artist is gone-- But I am still here, There's nowhere to run; Good reason to fear. The mystery unsolved, No brush can I stroke; And a promise resolved For my kind of folk Can never be broken: The Artist is gone. | DilemmaDo as you wish,Not as you want, Nor as you would, If you could, Want that which you wish. |
