Marian Hallet

Los Angeles, California

My pen name is Marian Hallet. I am a 44 year old homemaker, married for 25 years, with two daughters, Tracy and Jessica. At age 11, I began writing poetry, I write poetry to express the colors and music of my feelings, and to evoke different emotions in others. I am a cat lover and a staunch believer in protecting the rights of animals. I am proud to be a Distinguished Member of ISP, and I proudly endorse their principles of "peace, education, accomplishment, charity and equality." I have won Editors Choice Awards from NLP for three poems published in their anthologies. One day, I hope to have my poetry collection, titled 'Dawn and Dusk' published.

A Loved Woman

A loved woman's heart is a new lit candle,
Incandescent fire bright,
Her lambent eyes are sparkling stars
Glowing through the blackest night.

A loved woman's walk is fairy footfall
Leaping through the air so light,
A loved woman's hair will catch the
moonbeams
And reflect celestial white.

A loved woman's laughter -- silver bells
Ringing in the twinkling foam,
Her soul will soar to the highest
heights
Of Heaven's vast and starry dome!
!

The Nomad

The nomad roams the desert.
His Guide -- the Evening Stars,
He sleeps 'neath a vast black canopy
And dreams of realms afar.

Cactus -- his companion,
Dry brown desert brush,
He rests upon the Red Rock
Amid red desert dust.

He braves the shrieking sandstorms,
Those wailing desert winds,
His skin burns from the scorching
heat,
(His spirit aches within.)

He thirsts and hungers daily,
He longs to see the Green
Restorative oasis,
Clear and rippling stream.

He has no friends or family,
No worldly ties that bind,
His life -- aimless journey,
He seeks ... but never finds.

To The Mighty Sea

Savage were white foaming billows
As the tempest bellowed and roared.
Fierce were those gusty gales
As untamed waves lashed the shore!

Death claimed every sailor.
Their ship sank 'neath the sea.
Pirates ' treasure vanished
For Eternity.

Woe to those men! Foolhardy men
(Who tried to conquer the Sea!)
In the end, all men on earth must
bow
To Her Mighty Majesty!
