Marguerite Theriot Lemoine

Lafayette, LA, USA

I was born in 1921. I am a Catholic, and a member of the secular carmelites, Catholic Daughters, the 50+ club, rsvp, and AARP. I am a mother and a grandmother. I was published by The National Library of Poetry, the local newspaper, and received an award from the Catholic Daughters of America. I have the gift of gab and a sense of humor, so I write as I speak and some comes from dreams. My philosophical statement is: take the journey inward, where the human spirit meets God, know yourself, and help others.

Life

How precious is the life
God gave us.
How much we really
cherish it.
To take a life
is such a waste.
To give a life
is such a blessing.
Should not we be
all that God ask us?
He gave his life
that we might have it.
That faith and hope
and love continue.
The rock on which
We built our country.

Crawfish Tales

Louisiana crawfish, you are so very smart.
Yet, you were caught by a Louisiana man.
Why didn’t you just back away;
and go down in the ground to stay.
You know that man is so very mean.
He’ll boil you, stew you, etaffie you.
You’ll end up on somebody’s table.
Now back up now, if you are able.

Humming Bird Song

My little humming bird.
Sweet little humming bird.
You are so very small
Yet, you are loved by all.
You go from flower to flower;
And you go hum, hum along.
Now come and show me how,
I can go hum, hum, humming too.
