Mable Jo Baker

Chatsworth, California

Mable Jo has always been fascinated by expressing her thoughts in poetry. She was editor of a children's paper for several years; composed, illustrated and hand-tinted a book for each of her great grand children, plus two books of praise. She plays the organ for Bible class in her home, Mable Jo lost her husband in '88 and her daughter in '90. She has two sons, one is an author and the other a business manager. Besides praising the Lord for blessings, Mable Jo likes to write about experiences in poetry!

Tree Ballet

Five Italian cypress trees
Standing in a row,
Like tall and slender sentinels,
Until the wind begins to blow!

They slip into their dancing shoes
And do a great ballet!
They whirl and bend and waltz around,
They swirl and weave and sway!

Bowing low in unison,
In dizzy circles flowing,
Exquisite choreography!
And planned for just this showing!

I stand here by my window
And watch, in fascination!
They bow in perfect harmony,
I clap my appreciation!

Love

Have you considered the facets of love?
And the many blessings it gives?
How it lodges deep inside the heart
As long as a person lives?

Love is so very stretchable
No limits can ever confine
It's tendrils, reaching round the world
To touch each heart-e'en yours and mine!

One facet is the family love,
That shows when Moms and Dads
Look lovingly and proudly
At their lasses and their lads!

And friendship love, that sometimes,
Can last for years and years.
Another - sympathetic love,
Is shown through hugs and tears!

Love has a thousand facets,
Each one sent from above,
They can only be increased
For God, our God is Love!

The Friendship Tree

I love to go to the friendship tree
And look at the blossoms there
Each blossom represents a friend
For whom I love and care!
No two blooms are just alike.
And God has deemed it so-
That there's a vast variety
Whom we can love and know!
