I was born on a snowy December day in Grand Rapids, Michigan. My birth weight disproves the theory that big babies grow into large people. I am only five one and weigh approximately 90 pounds. My life has been interesting to me, but not considered really worth writing about. I have done nothing spectacular or "earth quaking", though I now live in Southern California and have experienced a few. The last big quake (North Ridge) shook us up one month after I had retired from a hospital where I had spent my last twenty years of work as a medical transcriber. (Most have no idea what that means; we typed from cassettes about 150 different doctor's reports in every field of medicine, including patients in the Psychiatric Unit.) I married and was blessed with a happy union for 22 years. We had no children. Now I am enjoying retirement as a volunteer. |
FloweringUntil the seed has found its mark,Worked its way through the dark, I cannot reach the light above, Its beauty fill the heart with love. Until you've walked a rutted road, Felt the burden of a load, Struggled forward toward a goal, There is no flowering of the soul. Unless we reach out for a star, We'll never move from where we are: Without a challenge there can be No fulfilling victory. |
FaithFaith that fires, but does not burn,Lights the heart and hearth in turn, Penetrates deepest gloom, Does not destroy, yet will consume. Where faith strikes, wounds are healed, Truth unsheathed, now revealed. Sweet the blow, sure its aim Leaves nothing in its path the same. |
