Rochester, New York

I have been writing poetry since I was eight years old. I have been published in The National Library of Poetry anthology and also the Sparrow Grass Poetry Forum Anthology. I am a college student at Monroe Community College where I am the student representative on the Board of Trustees and the President of the Accounting/Business Club. After MCC, I would like to attend the University at Buffalo where I can either take International Marketing Law or Management. If I choose the Management program I would like to finish up my graduate work at Northwestern. I am currently working on a manuscript that has proved to be very rewarding thus far. "Poetry is the way I can work my feelings out when I need a release. I am always looking for writing that challenges me, and my new manuscript does just that. I once remember hearing a saying that the only people who really see nature's beauty are the poets and the artists. "

A Rose

A rose grows slowly, like a love affair
It reaches its highest glory and becomes magnificent when it blooms, like love
itself.
But in the end when the rose withers and the petals drop to the ground, it is not
like love. For love is eternal.

The Trail Of Tears

You turn sharply around corners unaware of what lies ahead.
Following the trail you encounter snow, sleet, mud and extreme heat.
Stopping to catch your breath you take in your surroundings and realize the trail has
led to a crossroads and you must choose the fate of your future.
Your choices are to stop where you are, decide to plunge forward sacrificing your
chances for happiness or growing back where you came from and where you know you
will be unhappy but secure.
The trail of tears forces you to sacrifice your happiness and the person you love.

Life

A seed starts in the ground
only if it is nurtured does it sprout out to kiss the sun
It grows into a bud that unfolds slowly.
its beauty adds to the earth for one glimmering moment.
After it's brightest glory the petals dance in the wind.
They once again meet the ground and return
To where they had come from in the Beginning.
