Babies

So precious are the babies
LORD they all have gems for
eyes
So precious be their little
hands as they wave a sweet good-bye.
so precious be their little
feet as they meander to and
fro and darling be their tiny
breathe superbly do they glow.
We must not forget their fat
chubby cheeks nor their soft
and golden hair and don't you
forget to love them and show
them that you care.

A Child's Gait

To swing once more on
garden gate
and from oak vines
dangle and soar
to forge the tranquil
streams of life
which so often pass
our door.
To play all day in the
new mown hay
to frolic and dance to
daybreak drum
to muster hope trying
to cope
with the sorrows that
certain come.

Un-fashionable

Christ wore no robes that were fashioned
by Christian Dior. He only wore a very
simple Judean Robe. His footwear would
not have been by Gucci; he saw no need
of having happy feet. He would never had
owned a set of fancy wheels that could
have tuned itself to the road He only
rode on a donkey as we've so often been
told. Christ Jesus wore no rings nor a
diamond by DeBeers for his hands were far
too busy at wiping away the little one's
tears. He would have endorsed no bats or
baseball hats even if they would have had
them - nor no bits of polished cathedral
glass of long forgotten pasts. He only
worked in the present tense for the die
had been long time cast. He only now asks
please just deal with the present for I
have redeemed your past . . .
