I am 16 years old I am currently attending Wheaton North H.S. as a Junior. I have three younger siblings and two wonderful, giving, parents. I have been writing poetry for about ten years and hope to write for many, many more. I have been published by the National Library of Poetry, by a local publishing company and my school has also publicly recognized me for my talents and achievements as a young poet. Knowledge and hope are our strength and our key, that with a little bit of courage, will someday set us free. |
Goodnight ChildWhen I lay my head to rest I whispergoodnight my guardian angel dear, Goodnight my child she always says, sleep tight and have no fear. As I get ready in the morning and walk my way to school, She always gives me a little kiss and mouths the golden rule. As I walk out with my friends I say I'll always love you, I love you also sweet child, be careful in everything you do. When I get home I relax and remember the events of the day, Knowing she was always with me, content in lighting the way. So, when the day has finally ended and awake is to depart, She leans over and whispers softly...... ....I'll keep you in my heart. | The WallThere is a place called the "Wall" they say,Where over 58,000 names were safely put to lay, Each and every one held spirit, honor, & pride, And always said was in God we do abide, Faithfully they fought for our country in honor of Uncle Sam, With the muscle and the guts, the figure of a real man, But war wasn't their enemy, their enemy was fear, Trying to keep hope alive & keeping the memories dear, When they got hurt and the pain began to rise, They never showed it in their face but somehow In their eyes. In their hearts they had the glory & their soul Forever young, always & remembered By the songs the angels sung, Never once was a man greater or ever stood as tall, All the proof you need is written on the Wall. |
