Katherine has enjoyed writing in poetic verse seriously for about the past two years. Main interest in life has been her Faith and her many friends and family. Mother of two girls and three boys. Katherine is a Baha'i and states that each of us has the ability to penetrate the outer self's restriction and to find the gems of poetry within. Her writing has been published both in the local newspaper--Sermonette on Child Education and The Equality of Men and Women, and the Baha'i Children's magazine and The National Library of Poetry. Katherine says she is grateful to The International Society of Poetry for their encouragement to those who would express themselves in poetic effort. |
BIG And LITTLE BANGSAT THE VERY FIRST, I had structureIf you do not believe it, go to Einstein or Planck Do not forget, we have scientists to thank For making structure's purpose plain to us And the best of convincing arguments are not learned by chance But must be weighed And put in proper sequence It all comes from academic learning And then probed and studied And placed in proper complement How else did we get a look at relativity And if there's a Big Bang Are we not all little bangs Else how did we come into being We floated a nine month's time Before this air breathing And becoming another universal entity. |

To a Child -- The ThinkerEnraptured child in contemplativeApollo Pose Head resting by jutted elbow's knee-supported hand on chin Whose world is this anesthetized by wonder's glow he's looking in As it so quickly disappears in an invaded atmosphere Of delight and pleasure explained in factual memories Teased, let go, and returned again as a whim or metaphor This visiting with self and the spirit of the age What a priceless glimpse of an awakening to genius's Path of exploration with this child's hypothesis, conclusions, returns In the quiet of the garden's flowers and urns. |
