Katherine E. Hageman is a licensed secondary teacher, with an interest in world cultures. She has been writing poetry since she was 12. Poems that have been published by the National Library of Poetry include: Dare, I Would Die For, Knowledge, and Poets of Yester-Year. Katherine is now working on a religious collection. She hopes that one day problems will be solved with the power of words and not violence. Her advice is "hold tight to dreams, thoughts, and ideas, for they will allow you to soar". Poetry is the result of sharing hers.

A View From The East

An eerie ice creeps
slowly over majestic hills
sneaking down on an unsuspecting valley
the winds sweep over barren soils
dust dances in circles
clearing the surface in preparation
the sun is strangled from existence
clouds turn the sky black
a primeval scream goes up
as cotton falls like feathers
to blanket God's creation

Teach Me How

Take my hand
let me lead you to my heart
beyond the protective walls
(built of fear, anxiety, loss, betrayal)
to warmth unknown
enveloping every sense and curve
holding you close
never letting go
tear down my defenses
help me feel
experience all love has to offer
teach me how

Stolen Moments

Men were taken
lives put on hold
years unaccounted for
events changing the world
births and deaths
walls crumbling
wars beginning and ending
tears shed
never forgotten
yellow ribbons and prayers
excitement building
disappointment destroying
prayers and hope
one day returning
joy over flowing
words not needed.
