The Gun

The gun is almighty
Is used in many ways
To serve well and protect us
Can cause some gloomy days

The gun can be faithful
If held in honest hands
If not, it can and very well will
Destroy us woman or man

Parents take the time, to sit back and believe
Our children are slowly killing themselves
Great minds, if they want, could lead

Sit them down and instill values
This world is great, and has much to give
Let them know, they are not alone
Our children are here, and they all should live

A Wife Named Karen

Not tall in feet, she happens to be,
A wife named Karen is what this means to me.
So soft and tender, warm and gentle,
When she is near, it is her I am into.

A wife named Karen, this means to me,
Being able to say that she is so sweet.
Being able to say that she is loved,
And will be even in the heavens above.

A wife named Karen, this means to me,
Being able to talk with her, and think of her as I sleep.
To be strong and enduring is what she will be,
This woman, my wife, will be mine to keep.

What is Love

What is love,
Love is a feeling,
A feeling of need,
A feeling of compassion,
A desire to want, to be wanted.

To be a part of turmoil and confusion,
When love calls to go in a hurry,
To be the bearer of good news and bad,
To be a mother and father together.

What is love,
Love is truth,
Love is hurt,
Any time or day.

Love is wholesome,
Love is trusting,
Deeply from within.
Love is you and love is me
For eternity.

Woman of Color

The woman of color so bronze and beautiful
Attitude in control
She wears it well and seems to know
As she's always on the go

The woman of color she beams of joy
Attitude in control as she searches for Prince Troy

The woman of color can't seem to find
The love she needs that's always on her mind

The woman of color
Attitude in control
Settles down with the love
Of her heart and soul

Dance Floor Groove

She sits at a table
In a corner all alone
Trying to drown her sorrows
But wishing she wasn't alone

The dance floor groove is mellow
Not enough to get her up
A few more gin and tonics
And a bop is in the works

Keith Sweat, Patti LaBelle and Mr. Kenny 'G'
Fill the room with somber sound and sensuous melody

The dance floor groove is mellow
Just right to get her up
With one who is smooth and oh so polite
With whom I can keep up

Slow grind, tootsie roll, butterfly and more
One more drink, one last dance then it's time to hit the door

The sorrows that she came in with have bent to gentle calm
The dance floor groove got in her soul. She'll try it once again.
