Jessie Sawyer

Miami, FL

Born on December 15, 1943 unto the parents of Mr. Boswell Roberts and Mrs. Jessie L. Brown. Roberts in Miami Florida. Later, I was raised Hialeah Florida. I'm the only girl among four brothers. My young brother use to try to compete against me but he was not smarter than I was. He would make silly excuses to hide his jealousy. As a student at James Waldon Johnson Elementary School I was on the Honor Roll and participated in special programs. My family was members of Atkins Memorial C.O.G.I.C. This is where I gave my life to GOD. At Dorsey Junior High I became active in club events. Miami Northwestern Senior High is where I graduaged, class of 1962.
One day I fell inlove with Mr. John Sawyer and reunited in holy matrimony. We have three children together. I bared two sons and one daughter. I raised my children as a divorced parent. In the mean time, I began training at Dorsey Skill Center as nurses' aide. Miami Dade Community College is where I practice to become a Security Guard. My last job training at Jobs for Miami is where I became a Secretary.
During my leisre time, I enjoy reading, involve in social events such as Bingo, planning entertainment shows and being a loving grandmother to my four grandchildre. Reading encourages me to express the way I feel while writing a poem. I have not met my goal in life as a writer. But, I will succeed. I have been held back to long. As the years passed, I've become more collective. One goal that I've achieved, is myinterpersonally. In conclusion, I wrote a poem "A Rose and me" which was published by The National Library of Poetry.
