My statement is as follows:I just recently began writing poetry. The majority of my poems are written from my experiences in life. The focus of my poetry is with God, family, and nature's beauty. I try to inject into my poems my feelings, allowing the reader to recognize and experience these feelings. The poem "Precious Grandaughter" is an example of my style. This poem is being published by The National Library of Poetry. My love and belief in family is the inspiration for most of my poems. I find writing poetry a very rewarding pastime.

The Dream Catcher

Hey there little sleepy-head
Snuggled in your nice warm bed
Daddy comes and hugs you tight
Mama kisses you good-night
If I could weave a dream someday
You would ride a horse to the milky-way
You would pick the stars from the sky
And hang them in your room to dry
There they would shine so bright
Then the dream catcher could see at night
With a net make from a spider's web
He would catch the monsters in your head
So sleep tight my Grandson
I'll weave your dreams everyone
And when you are fast asleep
I'll send them all to you to keep
They will be full of love and joy
Made just for you my little boy
You will be the hero in them all
You will be the prince handsome and tall
And sometimes I hope tobe
In your dreams you and me
I'd chase those monsters all away
I'll say "GO OUTSIDE AND PLAY !"
The Dream Weaver.....Grandma

Chasing Rainbows

My husband asked me the other day
While I was gazing at the sky
Just what I was looking for
Watching clouds go passing by
I said, " I am chasing rainbows"
But I could not explain
That you cannot know a rainbow
Until you have felt the rain.
Although life has it's ups and downs
I still have the ability to see
The beauty in a fragile flower
The sturdiness in the tree
If you are looking for a special place
A rainbow for the find
The beauty is God's creation
The rainbows in your mind
I will forever search for rainbows
In each new face I see
In every budding flower
And each slender trembling tree
I know somewhere beyond all this
Is a place I can soar and fly
Remember me with happiness
I'm chasing rainbows in the sky.
