As a child I saw Hank Williams Sr. when he was writing a song, since then I always wanted to put my thoughts on paper.  I have a husband of forty years, two children, and three grandchildren. I was an LPN for thirty-three years. My husband encouraged me to write again after I had a stroke seven years ago. I enjoy writing, gardening, crocheting, oil painting and being with my grandchildren. God has helped me in all things.  I have had two poems published by The National Library of Poetry and received the Editors Choice Award.

Dreams of Life

I have dreamed dreams,
most have come true.
A unique grandmother with olden tales,
of coming from Texas on covered wagon,
fishing in the Alabama river after age 80.

Being her mate with gifts taught,
Learning to love all mankind.
Helping your fellow man.
Growing flowers with such a green thumb.

Dreams of how the world will be,
people afraid of each other.
Denying life God gave,
healing is slow to come.
Thank God you have someone to love.

Front Porches

This world is not the same ,
on this we must agree.
If houses had front porches,
just how would things be?

Our worlds problems were solved on these,
many a friend was made this way.
Sitting in the swing happy all day,
greeting each person as they passed our way.

Sharing the events of our life,
feeling at peace with the world.
Music soft in the air,
if only houses had porches now.
