Jean Cast

Hintington, New York

I started writing at the age of ten and had my first poem published at that time. When I was eleven I wrote and directed a play for the girl scout troop, that I belonged too. I had my poems published in the women's North Shore newspaper. Seven of my poems, have been published by The National Library of Poetry. My father was also a writer I guess I acquired my talent from him. I have two children: a daughter and a son, both are married. I like cooking, baking, interior decoration, water coloring, outdoors and I love my two cats.

Shades of Blue Violet

Shades of Blue Violet color the winter skies,
Black are the silhouette of the trees,
Brisk and wild the wind blows,
cry's of wolves heard upon the hills,
Knee deep in white snow.
As my thoughts of you return,
The sky turns a light blue.
The wind calms, the wolves are silent.
Snow melts and I am warm again.

Stay Until The Candle Burns

Stay until the candle burns
and let me look into your eyes.
How can you tell me you love me and yet tell me all lies?
How can you say you love me and tear away my heart?
Stay until the candle burns and let me rest my heart.

Don't Rush My Love

You always come and go and
always in a rush.
Don't you know that I know,
that you're in love with someone else.
When will you stay with me, and stop being in a rush,
when will you tell me you love me
and not someone else
