Jane L. Nance

Chrisman, Illinois

Most people think that, upon meeting me, I was a teacher or something on that order. Also younger ones think I'm "motherly." I am "artistic" with blue ribbons for my work in oil and watercolors. I like baseball (Go Cardinals!!) and bowling. But, I love my poetry the best because it allows me to see the world and my surroundings with different eyes. I am an active member of First Baptist Church, and I write poems for the church. I've also had one poem published in the newspaper.

Teachers We Love You

Teachers we love you,
For all the kind things you do,
using your teaching tools and talents,
Keeping everything in balance,
Bringing out the student's very best,
So they will always pass the test,
We know for you, it is essential,
For them to reach their potential,
In teaching, a teacher goes out of her way,
By bringing in items to aid, day after day,
At times, we know, that there is stress,
Hoping the stress is o'er shadowed with success,
A teacher has patience unending,
Unselfishly of the time spending,
Teachers, we all hope that you know,
That we do care and love you so,
With our love and appreciation,
You are ranked right up with the best in the nation.

Mother's Are Like Rainbow's

Mothers are like rainbows,
After a dark dreary day.
Mothers will cheer you,
And brighten your way.
Her arms will enfold you,
Close to her heart,
At times when you're sad,
Of the tear drops start.
E'en tho' the rainbows fade away,
Mother's love is constant,
And is here to stay,
Our dear heavenly Father made,
Mothers and rainbows galore.
So their beauty like a masterpiece,
May be enjoyed o'er and o'er.

Dear Graduates

In your life you've reached a milestone,
You feel both sad and happy at this time,
Sad at leaving your classmates and home,
Like a ship at sea.
You must stay on an even keel,
Keep your anchor steadfast
In the lord he's real,
Through the storms of life He will guide you,
Only trust him to lead in all that you do,
Yes, there will be disappointments and such,
Like missing out on a scholarship
That you counted on so much.
God knows the heartaches that you bear,
Just remember that you are always in His loving care.
If masterfully you handle pitfalls like these,
This above all, our Lord and Savior you'll please.
