Jane Rule Lee

Decatur, Illinois

Did not marry until I was 47 years old (waiting for the right man! ) And when he came proposing, I knew he was it and I became his third wife- becoming a step grandmother to 4 step grandchildren, and a step great grandmother to 6 step great grandchildren. We had a most wonderful life with no regrets! I am an only child- born at home January 24, 1912 into a very happy life among loving parents, and a precious grandmother who made her home with us too. I can honestly say that I would never change a single moment of my entire life- God has been good to me! My pen name is Jane Rule Lee (nee Edith Jane Rule)
Occupation: I am a widowed housewife- still going strong!
Education: Decatur High School graduate and best of all a member of the School of Common Sense, earned from years of newspaper work where I learned far more than a college degree could have given me!
Memberships:
I have served in many organizations Westminster Presbyterian Women; Daughters of the American Revolution (with eight years of State work there); Macon Co. Red Cross Vice Chairman with Records and Recognition; St Mary Hospital Life Member in Volunteers; Last active member of the Original Board of the Governor Richard J. Oglesby Mansion; Macon County Historical Society; and many other volunteer groups where I was needed.
Awards: Plaque from the many years I have spent in the restoration of the Oglesby Mansion; and for my hospital volunteer work; among others.

GIFT

This gift that I've been given
Of finding words that rhyme--
The first that some are humorous
While others seem sublime--
The urge that comes upon me
At morning, noon, or night--
To reach for pad and pencil
And causes me to write--
When words begin to fall in place,
And thoughts begin to fall in place,
It's almost like a sudden wind
That comes before a storm
I know I must not hesitate
To write it down, and fast--
For that's the only way I know
To make this great gift last!

And, through it all I realize
This wondrous debt I owe
To God above whose caring love
Has made this talent grow!

Lucky You !

So many friends are wonderful
They make your life worth living
And they have also learned the ant
That comes from joyful giving!

Whenever you feels selfish,
In a small and grasping way
Remember all the lovely things
That they have done today!

Without them you could never feel
The wondrous wings of prayer
Or understand the many ways
They show you that they care!

And so, when day is over,
And the shades of night are drawn
Be sure you count your blessings
Eve you see another lawn!

And so, head down
Knee bent
You'll be content!
