James R. Alderson

Cofferville, Massachusetts, USA

Born in Birmingham Alabama, 6-15-43. Raised in California. I now live and write in the beautiful state of Mississippi. Three children, James R. Alderson Jr, Debra Fay Alderson and Nathaniel James Anderson. I write plays, short stories, and childrens books and music. I have been a musician all my life, I also teach music. I love anything to do with nature. I love to hear the rain on my tin roof. Smell the flowers, ride my bicycle, and walk.

Pegasus

I wish I had a magic horse
To fly me to the land
Where Crackin's play
And Witches stay
Never seen by common man
With castles and rainbows in the sky
And dreams in every cloud
Yeah if only I owned a magic horse
I surely would be proud

A Picnic

I wish I had a jelly bean
Red Orange Black or Green
I'd put it in my pocket
And save it till we meet
We could have a picnic
With something good to eat

My Garden

I wish I had a garden
I'd dig it row by row
I'd pull the weeds
And till the soil
And really make things grow
I'd spray the bugs
And pick the beans
Then sit down in the shade
Everyone driving by would say
"Oh look what a garden he made"

Dixie

I'll just lay here
And listen to the rain
In the distance is a dog
Further on a train
The wind is howling through my door
As the drops of rain dance to the tune
Of Dixie

Let's Dance

I would really love to dance with you
If you think it would be alright
If the answer is yes
Put your arms around me and hold me oh so tight
Right now I'm scared to be alone
I need you to hold me tight
I would really love to dance with you
If you think it would be alright

It's My Favorite

I love to hear the quacking ducks
And all the bullfrogs sing
I know that Summer is on it's way
It's just the end of Spring
Everything is turning green
The birds begin to sing
It's my favorite time of year
Just the end of Spring
