Jacqueline Lewchanin

Fairland, Indiana, USA

Jackie is President of Port-O-Stroll Enterprises, Inc., a producer of large and small covers of canvas and vinyl. She loves children and animals and writes poetry to stay (reasonably) sane in an insane world. Her life-long goal is to solve the connection problems of severed spinal chords, but she thinks, so far, her greatest accomplishment has been to raise three wonderful children. Jackie writes short stories and has written five books of poetry, "The Fire Within Me", "Smoldering Embers", "Night Talk", "P. S. I Love You" and "Odd Lots".

When You Leave Me

Sometimes
When you leave me
I feel like a 3 year old child
In a crowd of knees.
The hand that tightly held mama's
Suddenly free -
In a panic tries to grab
The disappearing skirt.
I fall flat
Among the ankles
Knocking the wind right out of me
Just like
When you leave me.

The Man Runs Through Me

Like swelling tides
The man runs through me,
Leaving me alone.
Obsessed,
Waiting for the next rush
to engulf me.
The rhythmic cycle
reminding me
Of the love
between two people.
The obsession
drives me towards him.
My caution
holds me back.
Fearful of possession,
Remembering lessons
I've learned before.
Not wanting to scare him,
I stand
resolutely.
But, swaying, none-the-less
As the man goes through.
Aching
As he backs away.

Memory Poem

Birthday
Four
Living with mother
Once more.
Plain
White
Shoulder purse,
Pretty gift.
Brown
Scoth terrier
From the past
By my hand
Colored
Above the clasp.
Angry mother
Broken back
Packed in ice
Scars to last.
