Mrs. Jacklynn MacKenzie

Port Morien, Nova Scotia, Canada

I was born Nov. 9, 1943 in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada to Mr. And Mrs. John James Gardiner. I married Donald MacKenzie on March 6, 1987 (my second marriage). I have 4 children, (1 deceased, Kenny, 3 remaining) Robert, Roddie, and Keith MacLennan (all from first marriage). I received my High School Diploma from Morrison Glace Bay High School, Glace Bay, NS. I attained my Registered Nurses Diploma in 1968 from St. Rita's Hosp. School of Nursing. I also have a Commercial Course Diploma and I worked two years at Household Finance Corp. I am currently on disability but I was employed in the O.R. as a Registered Nurse for 16 years at Glace Bay General Hospital, Glace Bay, NS, Canada. I am a member of the Registered Nurses Association of Nova Scotia. I am also a member of St. John's United Church, Port Morien. On Friday, November 1, 1996, I was elected into The International Poetry Hall of Fame. My writings include "To My Son" in 1995 and "Sparkles in the Sand." I also had a poem printed in "The American Poetry Anthology" back in the 70's entitled, "If You Love Me" as well as several poems published in local newspapers. I have a very strong belief that death is not the end; that the soul survives physical death and travels to a new dimension, that we, as mortals, do not comprehend. Although I am not very religious, I do believe that my son Kenny is safe with God and I will see him again. I am very inspired by spiritual books and poems.

"To My Son"

I wish you could be with us when we wake and go to sleep,
That we could reach out and touch you and your love we could
always keep.

But destiny has changed this, God has taken you away,
Still in our thoughts and memories, with us you'll
always stay.

The moments we share together, we have only to close our eyes,
And one by one we re-live them again they can't be erased by
"Good-Byes"
You are with God now - There's no sorrow or strife,
God needed you for his "kingdom of heaven," so he drew you
from the "Garden of Life"

Our life here is only transient, we are only passing through
So in the time that we have left let's not forget to do what we
must do -

To help each other in times of need, to put aside our thoughts
of greed,
Let's not be bitter and full of hate, help to ease the other's pain,
please don't hesitate.

And now let's honor Kenny, that he was such a beautiful
rose,
That God admired and loved so much for His Heavenly Garden he chose.
