Hugh Wallace, born 5 Jan., 1923, Grove, Delaware County, Oklahoma, youngest of five sons to George Winston and Blaine Browning Wallace. Attended Grade Schools in Grove, Okmulgee, Preston, Kansas, and Zena in Okla. I attended Grove, Okmulgee, Grove again and graduated from Jay Hi School, with one semester in 1940. Attended Southeastern State, Durant, Okla., one year and volunteered for the Air Corp. on 6th June, 1941 and was sent to Lowery Field, Denver, Colo., where I attended Armanent School and was detained as an Instructor for two years until I entered Cadets in 1943. I attended Okla., Univ. for two years before joining zs. a. c. as a crew member for 7 years, after which I worked as an Engineer Test Lab Technician (Ordnance) for Douglas Aircraft (El Secundo, Navy Plant). When the El Secundo Plant closed, I entered the Army where I retired in 1974. |
