Ft. Worth, Texas

I was born on June 8, 1938, grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma and graduated Central High School in 1957 with a perfect attendance record for all four years of high school. In the seventies, I coached Little League Baseball and won three back to back first place titles. I was also a member of the Pasadena Jaycees. I am currently working in the construction field, as I have for most of my life. I have three children and three grandchildren. I am an avid dart player and have competed in numerous tournaments. I have completed ten poems over the last fifteen years and I always try to depict life the way it really is.

Lumber and Stone Don't Make A Home

When you meet somebody and you win them for your own,
And the courting is over and you say I do.
You can take all your money and build yourself a house,
or take all your love and build yourself
a home.
When the honeymoon is over you better love each other all you can,
'Cause if the loving is ever over you will be without a home.
You may have lots of money and can buy what you want,
But it only takes love to buy yourself,
a home.
So when the courting is over and the honeymoon too,
You need to think over what you need to do.
You can build yourself a house with lumber and stone,
And take all your love and make your house into,
a home.
When the years go by about twenty or so,
Your house is still a home, not just lumber and stone.
So if you love somebody you might think about this,
You can keep your house with your money,
Lumber and stone, but you have to give your love if you want to
keep your home.
So if you love somebody you better keep them if you can,
'Cause if the loving is ever over, you have to find
a new home.

The Road of Life

Every body wants their life to be
Sunny skies and rainbows.
but they fail to realize where the
sun always shines there is no water below.
And they need a little rain to get the rainbow.
So as you travel on the road of life remember this.
There will be times that it's rough and
times that it's smooth, and sometimes you win.
Sometimes you lose.
Everybody wants their life to be a bed of roses
But they don't realize the roses come with thorns.
And they don't realize sometimes in
Life they have to grab the bull by the horns.
Everybody wants to live on easy street.
But they don't realize it takes a lot
Of work to build that street.
So as you travel on the road of life remember this,
There will be times that it's rough and
Times that it's smooth and sometimes
You win, sometimes you lose

Places I Want To Live

I want to live where the mountains are tall
where the mountains are covered with snow in the fall

I want to live where the mountains and the rivers are side by side
Where the big rocks are and the rattlesnakes hide

I want to live where the river wiggles through the trees
where the wind blows clean and free

I want to live where the wind keeps the trees gently swinging
And live where I can hear the birds singing

I want to live where I can hear the coyotes night time wail
And live where the flowers grow wild

I want to live in the mountains where the golden eagles nest
This is one of the places I love the best

I want to live where the trees grow tall
These are all of the places I want to live most of all
