God Grant Us Wisdom

Oh, for the wisdom to build a world
Where man may find delight,
Not in the strength of Martial power,
But the quest for truth and right,
Where every man may be free to dream
To envision "castles in the air";
And then through labor and sacrifice
To build those castle there,
We would not ask that the way be cleared
And smoothed for our eager feet;
But rather, freedom from groundless fear
Our problem we may meet.
Yes, ours is a prayer for freedom, for strength,
And for opportunity
In a world not only of toll and tears,
But of love and liberty.

Red Roses In The Garden

Red roses, red roses,
Is that really what I see?
Hundreds of them, thousands of them
Shining on a tiny tree.
Like many, many rays of sunlight
Sent from Heaven to chase the gloom
Yes, for each delicate red rosebud
In my heart, I will find room.
Love them, kiss and caress them;
Let each petal's rosy hue,
Penetrate the days of loneliness
Like a message loving and true.

To A Friend

The mind of a friend is quick
to sympatize and understand,
Sharing both our problems and our joys.
The heart of a friend is true,
Inspiring us to do and be our best
whether adverse or triumphant seems the day.
All of these are bonds
that forge the priceless link of friendship;
and all of these I find, my friend in you.
