Garrett Beget

Eugene, Oregon

Garrett has been writing poetry for six years, beginning during his sophomore year in high school. Soon finishing up college with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Garrett plans to continue writing poetry. Poetry means as much to him as does his work in engineering. Garrett has had some of his poems published in The National Library of Poetry Anthology Series. Also in his spare time, Garrett has written two fictional novels. He holds his relationships with family and friends as, "the most important forces in my life." Garrett says, "My poems bring out my deepest thoughts and emotions."

Mirrors for Marceau

Inside out.... a mistake
Silently speaking...I rest
Mistakenly right...a fake
Repeatedly different...I detest
Blind voyeur...I stare
Wildly calm...too sedate
Faithfully cheat...do care
Bored stiff...I create
Inch tall...enough
Never sometimes...too sore
Quietly loud...so tough
Outside in...no more

hero

she holds my eye, my eye so clear
perilous skin I do review
limpid path roams so far away
sweet smelling, your fragrance pure

laugh out loud and roll with the flowing seasons
wait a while, daydreams are what I invent
if you should be so noble
then please wait for me lover
wink your eye, turn to me, and have me forever

you caper so long, you plummet so far
one mistake, I cannot believe
take me into the clouds up high
cold outside, warm inside, I died

float with feathers and hold that thought outside
blow a kiss, one that would be hard to miss
if you could be so kind
then please stand beside my side
be my hero, sip my breath, and hear my cry

Searching For Something I Do Not Know

A world in which I try
to become me, not you
nor anyone else I may see

Images appear
floating swiftly before my eyes
tumbling into a disguise

I think why this, why that

Searching for something I do not know
the grass remained green
trampled by the soul

Wondering is a beautiful thing
Believing is even more

Sweat dripped down the sun-drenched face
onto the earth

Moistened is the soil
the meadows grow
flowers in bloom

I emerge
side by side, the others a little below
looking onward, I reach skyward
