Florence Weaver

East Earl, Pennsylvania

I was born on February 21, 1925 to David and Frances Weaver. I have three brothers and a sister. My father was a Mennonite minister and my mother was a public school teacher.
My career of Piano Instruction is almost finished. I have composed ninety songs. I was awarded "The Editor's Award" and "The International Society of Poets Plaque" in 1996 by The National Library of Poetry.
I'm a member of Weaverland Mennonite Church and a firm supporter of M.C.C. in their global mission of peace.
My favorite Bible verse is, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."

Ducks Are Such Fun

Ducks on the pond a delightful sight,
Pretty and beautiful,
this warm summer night.
Moonbeams dancing and playing,
watch the ducks' antics too.
Swimming and diving and
splashing to the beautiful
Full moon in view.

As the morning breaks
breakfast will be served.
They heed my call and
answer, Quack, Quack, Quack.

May

May's exquisite fragrance
of lilacs in my room;
Has brought me joy and
pleasure and kept my
heart in tune.

The lilies-of-the-valley
strike up their notes of cheer.
For Mother's Day and May Day
are at this time of year.

Kingdom Coming

There's a glorious kingdom coming,
glorious kingdom coming,
glorious kingdom coming,
when Jesus returns to earth.
Heaven and earth will pass away and
melt with fervent heat.
But the new creation will usher in the
glorious dawn of peace.

The wolf and the lamb shall feed together;
The lion shall eat straw like the ox.
They shall not hurt nor destroy
in all my Holy mountain.

Men will beat their swords into plow shares,
their spears into pruning hooks.
Nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
Nor study war anymore.

Rejoice and be glad, O, Jerusalem,
the great day is coming soon.
For Jesus Christ will come to Zion and
establish His Kingdom of Peace.
