I have been writing poetry since 1996. I have written six poems. I have always loved poetry, but was inspired after the death of my Mother to start writing. I am a secretary at North Texas Machining in Gainesville, TX. I am a member of Temple Baptist Church. I love spending time with my family, taking pictures and writing. I am married, and have three children and six grandchildren. Two of my poems have been published by The National Library of Poetry. Writing brings out my feelings and helps me remember the beautiful things in life, both past and present.

Mother

Seems like only yesterday
God took you away.
It was time for you to go
Although we miss you so.
You touched our hearts in many ways
And your love helped us through our nights and days.
We'll never forget the love you held in your heart
From that memory we will never part.
We love you Mom and miss you so
Although the hardest thing was to let you go.
Some day it'll be our time to go
We'll go home to be with you, God told us so.
We know you're safe in the arms of Jesus
One thing for sure that will always please us.
When we look up to the heavens above
We know you're there, we can feel your love.
Some day we'll meet on life's other shore
To be with you forever more.

My Dad

My Dad was such a wonderful man
He loved us like no other can.
He spent time with us during the day
And at night he would remind us to pray.
His days were filled with stories of years gone by
As we listened carefully time would seem to fly.
Don't take for granted the things of the past
For those are the memories that will always last.
Although the years have rushed on
Since my Dad has been gone.
His memory will always be
Forever very dear to me.

My Children

My children embrace my heart
That's one memory that will never depart.
My children I'll not take for granted
For in my heart they're deeply implanted.
Dear God just keep us aware
Of the dear children you put in our care.
Help us to guide them every day
Thank you God for sending them our way.
