Eunice B. Lanzl

Wilmington, Delaware

I have been writing poetry ever since I was ten years old. My family has always been my first concern. I have two sons, Steven George Lanzl and Bruce Frank Lanzl. I have five grandchildren: Justin, Amanda, Brett, Caylyn and Drew. My poetry has been published in newspapers and by The National Library of Poetry. I enjoy playing the piano and painting pictures. I try to communicate my way of life through my poetry. I believe in leading a simple life and in being helpful to other people. I am a member of the American Association of University Women and Alpha Omecrom Pi Sorority. I attended Libertyville Township High School and DePauw University.

Waltzing With A Butterfly

The gold chain makes a figure 8
configuration on the marble topped table.
The white butterfly circles around a white flower.
The violins play strauss waltzes with the orchestra.
I wished I were a single note played by the long haired violinist!
The music stops!
The violinist's shiny, black legs are bent
And the music doesn't play on --
The white flower wilts with the heat.
The white butterfly flies away --
To die alone, except for a lazy caterpillar
the sunlight on the summer porch brings me back to reality.
The grass outside is green and the air is sweet.

The Angel Child

I met Elizabeth
When she was two
She said, "I'm Elizabeth
Who are You?
She was in my dream.
Playing in a shallow stream,
In the sunlight.
Elizabeth started to put small cream
pebbles into her mouth.
I said, "No, No, don't do that!"
Elizabeth did as I said
And put the pebbles back
Into the shallow stream bed,
What a cute little girl!
She had a pout and a curl,
Who was this little child?
She was an angel child,
An angel sweet and an angel mild.
Unwanted on earth, she flew on wings
To learn all about heavenly things.
