I have been writing poetry for only a short time, thanks to my husband's encouragement. I thank God that He has given me the ability to put my feelings into poetry about my family and friends. My poetry has been published by The National Library of Poetry. I was awarded the Poet of Merit Award at the 1997 Convention of Poets. Two of my poems took first place two years in a row at our local county fair. I published a poem for our camp paer. Thanks to my husband Harold, children Mary Lou, Jeannie, family and friends for their encouragement.

Thank You God

I just want to thank you for the freedom of speech,
Being able to worship anytime and where we want to,
For giving me a wonderful mom and dad, a brother and sister,
A son, two lovely daughters, and two beautiful grandchildren
Thirty years of married life with my husband, Harold
Who has given the courage and the strength to do things
Thanks for giving me the confidence to pass my drivers test
It sure seems great to get in the car and go.
Thanks for helping us to have a warm place to live,
Being able to get a restful night's sleep.
For the birds of the air, beautiful flowers and trees,
Fish, mammals, and nature of all kinds.
For being able to give me wisdom to put my feelings down on paper.
Above all, I want to thank you for giving me the privilege
Of taking my friend Sharon with me to the International Society of Poets
This summer in Washington, D.C., where I was honored
And we met some new friends.
God, why don't people give you thanks more often?

A Light Shining In Darkness

G is giving of your time and talent to tell others about Jesus
O is taking one day at a time with God's help
D is daily walking with Jesus in your devotions
G is goals you have set for yourself and accomplished them all
O is once you have determined to do something you don't give up till it's done
W is with a song in your heart, a smile on your face, God will get you through
I is interest that you show for your family and others
T is thirty years you have been singing at camp meetings in most divisions
H is your happy Christian home that your cockatiels and everybody enjoys
Y is young at heart, full of spirit and hospitality
O is only that your family loves and appreciates you more each day
U is usually putting others before yourself
J is just being Jeannie even tho you can't see like others
E is enjoying life to its fullest and singing about Jesus love
A is appreciating having Jeannie's Christian Variety Store and a Volunteer for Christian Record Services.
N is never giving up hope when so many times you were told you cannot see why do you want to do that?
N is naturally you would answer in your determined attitude and say why not?
I is investing your time and talent to tell others about Jesus.
E is everything you do is for the Glory of God
