Eleanor Leng

Kingsville, Ontario

Eleanor started writing poetry in 1992. She read the contest for The National Library of Poetry in her local Kingsville Reporter. Without her glasses, she thought it said twenty words. So she cut 'till it hit the mark. Her first poem, "Love Is" was published in " A Break In The Clouds." Since, she has sent writings to local papers. Eleanor is a member of the Church of Ephiphany, volunteer at Leamington Hospital for continuing care feedings. She is a past president of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary Br 188, also an Associate member. With honor, she carries flags on Remembrance, Memorial Day Parades. She is a Distinguished Member of The International Society of Poets. In writing, she "Thanks God" for this gift.

God's Greatest Gift

His son 'Jesus Our Saviour" to save
Each and everyone "God" gave
your son suffered on the cross for us
This is why it is a must
"Help Us Lord" so we can begin
protecting us from all sin
In "Jesus Name" show us how
To get "God's Greatest Gift"
We must spread all his love
For it truly comes from above
"If We Believe"
"We Shall Receive"
"God's Greatest Gift"
Of Love

Our Father

If it wasn't for "Our Father"
We would never have had
Another father, that some of us called "Dad"
He worked hard to put food on the table
This is why you are still here, and able
To give to your children, and still share
So tell "Dad" you love him, because you care
Many of us have no father and this makes us sad
To all that are left, be thankful and glad
Now go to your "Dad" and say
"Happy Father's Day"
But remembering first to give thanks to
"Our Father"
For giving you the chance
To have another special day with
"Dear Old Dad."

Mother's Day

While I'm in church, on this special day
Wish you were beside me, when I pray
You gave of yourself to help family,
All your life
Remembering back to Dad, you were a good wife
When I was sick, you were always there
In your special way, with your loving care
Never knew 'till my first child's birth
What a mother was really for, on this earth
When the choir sings "In the Garden"
In their beautiful tone
I know Mom you're in heaven with "Jesus"
And not alone
As you reached out for others, and not
just for us
You planted that seed in our hearts,
So it's him we must trust
"I Love You Mom" is why I say
We will never forget you especially on
"Mother's Day"
"Thank You Lord".
