Elaine is a retired Executive Secretary. She started writing poetry eight years ago in 1988. An extensive background in classical piano blended into her art of poetry. Her joys in life are helping people, growing orchids, music, and writing. Elaine has had her poetry published by the United States Navy, Chaplain's Office, San Diego, California. Other publications have been in local newspapers, the Poetry Guild, and The National Library of Poetry. Her greatest pride is her four children. Elaine states, "Poetry is God's music. He whispers the lyrics into our mind and the printed word becomes His melody." |

The Tree of GethsemaneShe stands tall, while Doves nestle inher hair. Gnarled roots grip a rock so bare. An angelic wind whistles through her branches. It's midnight. She shouts out a protective alarm. Her heart wrenches. HE kneels to pray. Hold on. Don't let me go. I'll support you. Wrap your arms around my Olive wood. I'll be your strength. I'll be your armour. I'll lead you to the Ocean. I'll lead you to the shore. You are placed on my barked arms. Secured by heavy iron nails. My trunk enfolds you. My pulp cushions you. My Cross bears your weight. I am THE TREE OF GETHSEMANE. |
