Eddie Timak

Thorold, Ontario, Canada

I have been writing poetry since the spring of 1990. My parents were Aleksander (Alek) Timak and Engenia (Jennie) Bodnaruik. I'm divorced with two grown boys, Glenn and Steve. I have only a Grade 11 education (high school dropout). I'm a retiree from General Motors, St. Catharines. I've decided to seriously pursue poetry and some of song writing. I'm also taking singing lessons so that I can sing my own songs publicly. My late father was a gifted singer even though he had no formal education. I have his desire to sing. My hometown (village) is Thorold South, Ontario, Canada.

Think About It

I cannot stop the raging sea from waving,
But I could wave back to the sea.
I cannot halt gale-force winds from blowing,
But I can prevent the wind from blowing my hair.
I cannot erase dark clouds from hovering overhead,
But I can look at dark clouds and smile,

And wait for the sun to shine through.
It makes no senses to dwell on things
I cannot change from the past,
But I can enjoy the present,
Look to the future,
Correct somethings from my past,
To improve some of my tomorrows.
I can't stop from growing older,
But I can change from feeling old.
Lo and behold as we dwell on time;
We can't slow down the essence of time,
But we can slow down from rushing around,
And stop the time of any wasteful living.

Smile, There's No Charge

Smiles and bank accounts have similarities;
When you smile frequently.
You gain the interest of others in return,
And it pays big dividends.
Yet smiles cost nothing,
There is absolutely no charge!
You gain accountability
In life's banking sweet ways,
Take my word..bank on it!
Your smiles gain interest...everyday!

Not Always

The joyous may not always be happy,
The brave - not always courageous,
The successful do not always succeed,
The rich and the famous
Are not always at peace with themselves,
And the poor are not always sad.
But there is a balance to all this;
If we cultivate tough inner strength
And peace within.
That could only come from God
You are rich my friend!

A Priceless Moment

A friendly smile,
A soft handshake,
Loving words,
A concerning touch,
Listening quietly,
Oh, such a peaceful setting,
Thoughtfully, kindly, lovingly,
The feeling is placidly
Exhilarating;
A blessed brief meeting in time,
In the noisy confusion of life...
The moment is priceless.

Believe In Yourself

The sun will shine on you again,
Your spirit will be lifted from within,
Beyond dark clouds, thunder and rain,
You'll rise up with new strength
To bounce back again.
For you are a somebody
On God's treasured shelf.
Some roads may be rough,
Some hours may be lonely,
Some moments may be painful,
Some tears may be silent,
Some tasks may be heavy,
Some days may be long,
But don't go without a day.
To give your heart a happy song.
Go ahead...believe in yourself.
