Duncan, Oklahoma

I was brought up in Jefferson County in Oklahoma. The county seat was Wooika. It was during the depression which was quite devastating so most of us learned to take the rocks early. We had good schools and all who passed earned it. I was chosen for plays from the first and went all through school. I also was in the Gill Club, a quartet, and soloed some time later. I began writing poetry and I loved it, I still do. And am so grateful for all it's brought me. I had a good Christian Dad and four brothers and two sisters. I didn't know I wasn't rich until some people started buying sports roadsters. I was married when I got out of school to a very nice man and had two beautiful children, a girl and a boy and I now have grandchildren and great grandchildren. So it's been a full life but is slower now so, I write poetry.

It's A Great Life

The propaganda hounds
Are always around
Running everything in
The ground.

Confusing simple or great
If you swallow this
Your wonder what
To give you a stomach ache.

And you have a thumpin!
In your head
Filling you with worry
And dread
Until you feel as
if you're dead.

What to do, what to do?

To help you out of this stew
Pray my friend, pray to renew
Your commonsense and humor too!

Then laugh loudly and think
Of beautiful skies
And air that don't stink
And the water you use is fit to drink

Then go to a handy health bar
To find something that keeps you up to par
So you can get on with seeking your star!

God's Way

The mountain top is so beautiful But did you notice the valley You came through On the way to the mountains view? High up, and lofty and cold Is the mountain top looking down on all? Serene is the valley from the cove Looking up at the mountain above Proving God's way is for everyone. Whether in a dale or on a mountain top He's in every please shining as the sun So if you're up high don't scoff! Whatever it is you may be Up down or in between Look for him, and you will see His warm steady loving gleam!
