Dorothy writes poetry as a hobby, reflecting on life, nature, and spirituality. Dorothy was an Air Force wife, has four grown children, and has traveled extensively and lived in other countries. She is a Federal Civil Service retiree and is now semiretired—working in part-time jobs and taking classes. She also enjoys meditation and walking for exercise and health. Dorothy majored in The Humanities in college. She has had her poetry published by The National Library of Poetry. Dorothy says, "Writing poetry is a pleasant way to express my thoughts and feelings on life and the beauty of nature."

SPIRITUAL STRENGTH

The World is a big challenge,
But the spirit need not be daunted.
With a strong mind,
Encouraged by spiritual strength,
All obstacles can be overcome,
And encouragement surface to sustain the spirit,
Advancement and growth take place,
And the Light shines on the right path.

SUNLIGHT

The beautiful sunlight shines brightly,
The skies are blue and clear,
I get an elated feeling of joy
And my spirit surges with hope and wonder.

I love the feel of the morning sun,
It makes me rise with energy
To accomplish my duties of the day
With bright cheer and optimism.

The bright sunlight lifts my spirits
And inspires a sense of creativity,
Seeking fulfillment of dreams and wishes.
And life's accomplishments to manifest.

The brilliant sunlight gives me an uplift,
My spirit seems to soar with happy visions,
The beauty of the world shines with light,
And an aura of peace surrounds the Earth.

TRANQUILITY

As I sit amidst nature's land,
Surrounded by trees, flowers, and waters,
And the mountains line the sky,
I sense an atmosphere of tranquility.

Time seems to have stopped,
As the sunlight from the clear blue sky
Shine upon me and touch my soul,
And the fresh breeze brush against my face.

The colors of green, blue, red, and pink
From nature's shrubs and bushes,
The glistening water of the tranquil lake,
Still my soul and mind into quiet time.

I sit and ponder in peaceful thought.
Absorbing the tranquil atmosphere around me,
My mind free of worldly concerns,
Enjoying peace and harmony with God and nature.
