Dixie has been writing poetry for fifteen years or more. She is in sales and an active member of her church. Through entering their contests, The National Library of Poetry has published some of her poems and she has won recognition as 3rd place winner for her poem, "Dawn Dust." Her subjects are varied and include poems for children. She says writing poetry is a wonderful hobby that feeds the mind. It's a passion that brings beauty into her life.

Dawn Dust

Comes on quieter
Than silence
Peers through windows
And doors.
Fills room with
Slow momentum
Light slowly creeps
Filling space.
Soon you see dawn dust
Then dance
Inspiration, love
Opportunity
We become flowers
Full blown trumpets
Sun soaked bright leaves
Yearning for creativity
As dawn dust
Opens up, a new day.

Yellow Medallions

Evening comes like
Dancing mirrors
Over farmers field
Of blackeyed susans
And butterfly lace.
Sifting shadows.
Of yellow medallions
In crevices of tall
Green and brown grass
And clovered space.
Pulling light in every
Direction
The blackeyed susans
Stately stands
Yellow medallions
Dance like mirrors
Scattered throughout
The meadow land.

Epitome Of Faith

Butterfly Spider
Swings in hammock
In perfect resolute
Sleeps, basking
In summer sun
Commodiously.
