Derrick Allenger

Cayman Islands

Derrick Orin Allenger was born in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies and now lives in Spot Bay, Cayman Brac, Cayman Island , B.W.I. He received an Award of Merit Certificate for his poem, True Hearts for the World of Poetry. He has a number of poems published by the National Library of Poetry, Anthology Series. One poem, "Wait My Love", was published in a small anthology, "Living Jewels", "A Treasury of Lyric Poetry" by Fine Art Press, Knoxville, Tennessee. Two poems were published in "Rhyme and Reason", a small anthology by Jo.MA.W. Publishing Company of Blue Springs, MO. He has two children, Monique and Jason.

Princess of Love

A princess of love, yes she was,
Now living with angels in heaven above,
She loved and was beloved by so many,
And was even loved by more even after death,
After her death love arose
From all over the world flowers were sent.

So many she loved and cared for,
The poor, the sick and the needy she reached out for.
A heart touched with love and compassion
A princess of love she was.

The road she walked not many would have gone
That road where only a few have gone before.
Helping hands, a loving heart,
In heaven we know that's where she now is.

On Earth she has done her part
And in heaven we know that she,
Will still do her part.
Always she will be in our hearts
Forever she will be remembered.
A princess of love with a caring heart
And in heaven above still a princess of love.

Mother of Love

Mother of love, Mother Teresa.
Oh, she has laboured for love,
She did put love above all things
For the poor and helpless,
She has given more than a lot
And for her love for the poor only heaven can repay.
How happy and golden in heaven,
Her days will be spent
Loving and caring just the same.

She has given so much and asked for nothing in return,
In her heart always there was,
A universal love for all mankind.

Never can the world forget a heart so kind,
Love, kindness, and care for mankind,
Was the true mark of her loving heart.

A true mother of love, Mother Teresa
Forever you are in millions of hearts.
A mother of love, forever you are.

Thankful For What I Have

I see a clear, dark blue sky covered with stars twinkling
That lights up my little world.
I am at peace with my God.
I am not rich with gold and it doesn't matter to me at all,
For I am rich with love, a millionaire,
And I am thankful for the little that I have.
I give thanks to my God for what He has made of me.

So as I look around at the world
And see a lot of greed and hate,
It makes me very sad.
I say a little prayer for those who are trapped in this world
Of greed and hate.
And when my prayer is over,
I can open my eyes and I see the beauty of my little world,
That is filled with love and care.
I can't help but as always,
To be thankful for what I have.

Love Can Only Do Good

If we would love even for a little
Knowing that the master loves us
Even more when we are full of hate
for each other.
A little love first for ourselves
Then for our neighboure, brothers and sisters.
Would not life be all sunshine in sweetness
of our Lord and Saviour?
Never we forget that there is kindness
in his justice,
The master favore none.

The love of God for humanity my friends,
Is indeed broader, more than you and I can think.
And gone far beyond the measures of man's mind.
And we should take the master at his word,
To love one another,
For love can only do good.
