Danny W. Patterson

Paragould, AK, USA

Dan has written poetry most his life. Was first driven by emotions: Love, life, divorce, then, the 60's, Nam, NAVY, and finally my own death. Brain damage from a beating gave him total memory loss for 6 months and he still has trouble reading and writing. From 1992 to about the last of '95, he was a body without a mind. He turned to poems to show himself how he felt. Sent for copyright on collection of poems of 96 called "Danny's world" Feb. 13th, no publisher yet. Two poems below published by the National Library of Poetry.

The Big L

Love bats hard and love beastsfast;
Love is nothing if not found at last;
What is love but a four letter word;
emotions running completely absurd;

It's a lot like fame, thrown apart;
For all is only, the truth of thy heart;
You can't touch it, or hold it in your
hand;
it's a curse to all, both women and man;

You hold it close and feel it far,
No matter what sex you are;
Many time you feel the rain;
Sometimes happiest and some day pain;

when it's lost we cry,
Something money can't buy.

The Future

One year comes one year goes,
What will happen no one know,
It's all left up to the game of chance,
Like love affairs or way our prance,

No one knows from day to day,
The game of life or how to play,
You do your best as well you can,
To improve the betterment of man,

It's all a puzzle as time goes on,
Time could be short or maybe long,
It really don't matter what you think,
There ain't no reason to raise sink,

It will all work out, in the end,
all anyone need is a friend.
