Christopher Kersey

Christopher is a student at Our Lady of Grace Elementary School in Somerdale, New Jersey. He has been writing poetry since he was in the sixth grade. Christopher was chosen to speak on Catholic School Week at Our Lady of Grace Church when he was in the sixth grade. In addition, he volunteered to speak for Catholic School Week in the seventh and eight grade. He is an altar server at Our Lady of Grace Church. Christopher will be attending Sterling High School in Somerdale, New Jersey in the fall of 1997. He is looking forward to his new challenges and he feels confident that he will succeed.When Christopher was in the seventh grade, his poem, "A Snow Storm" was published in Recollections of Yesterday in 1996. He received Editor's Choice Award and his poem was chosen to be recorded by audio tape and read by a professional poet. In January 1997, Christopher's poem "Race" was chosen by The Board of Directors and Advisory Committee of The National Library of Poetry and it was elected into The International Poetry Hall of Fame Museum. In addition, his poem "Race" will be published in A Lasting Mirage. Christopher says, "Writing poetry helps him to express his true feelings about his experiences in life."Christopher has four belts in "Aikido" and he has his high red belt in "Karate". He will receive his "Black Belt" in karate in July of 1997 after he test for "Ten Hours". Christopher received a second place trophy in bowling in the junior league out of 750 participants in 1989. He also received Dare Class Participation Award at Our Lady of Grace School in 1994.
