Charlotte L. Ashberger

Las Vegas, Nevada

I have always loved poetry, and started to write after a life in New York as a hairdresser on Madison Ave. I attended Suffolk Community College to become a therapist. I was President of The Holtsville Seniors and President of Ladys Day. After retiring to California, I was a volunteer in the Respite Program. I was Senior Regent of the Women of She Moose and received my cap and gown. Then to Vegas, attended UNLV, wrote a play, Home Furnishings which was produced and portraying my mother in it. Since the play was successful, I am interested in writing and of course - I enjoy poetry! The joy of people is always a pleasure and now volunteering here in Vegas and enjoying the Seniors and tending the garden with herbs and roses. Writing my novel is my major interest at the present time.

Wedding Poem

This is your wedding day
and in your eyes
the light of love
is brighter than the stars.

Your heart is full of hope
with all the joyful promise
this all brings.

And the promise will come true,
if you remember this one thing,
Just love each other
as you are,
Don't try to change
this person you found
and learned to love.
Let your love be
the greatest gift
you both receive
and when you do
the love will last through all
as the light that lights
the evening sky.
