Charise M. Thompson

Cheyenne, WY

Charise, daughter of Donna J. Roberts, has published poetry and articles since her early teens in local publications, periodicals and numerous anthologies by World of Poetry Press and The National Library of Poetry. Charise and husband Chris share a quiet life, five beautiful children and await their 5th grandchild. Medically disabled by terminal disease, Charise (and Chris) volunteer as Certified Advocates for Safehouse; advocating for Victims of Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Incest, whenever Charises' health permits. Charise continues to write poetry and her autobiography. She prays for faith, peace, love, family, friends and a lifetime to enjoy them.

Death's Messenger

I've kissed the lips of Death's Messenger
And been given my place in line -
So in a world where each child is a star,
This star will no longer shine.

Death's Messenger held out his hands to me
And he was one I could not resist -
So now I wait till my number is called,
And this life that I've lived will desist.

I live for love, and peace and faith
And helping others to climb -
For I have a purpose here on this earth,
That lets me live on borrowed time.

My purpose here has been to share
The lessons I've learned in life -
To help others to share and to hope.
And teach them to cope with strife.

This life has made me a special breed
With so much knowledge to give -
And I'll share that knowlege with you now,
For as long as I might live.

When I'm gone, remember me fondly
And love the person I helped you be -
Then somewhere down this road of life,
Reach out, that another may see.

And pass along the good, my friend
That's been passed on to you -
For there will be a part of me,
In the lives you touch and the things you do.

Kay's Friendship

Kay was always the first with a smile
When a friend walked into her view;
The best example of a "people person"
That most of us ever knew.

Her personality had a special spark
That could brighten any room;
And she had that way about her
That always chased away the gloom!

Kay seemed to have the proper words
When one experienced pain or doubt;
And she'd talk until she found a way
To turn the turmoil inside out!

She was there with a shoulder or hug
And tender words of encouragement;
I only hope we told her often enough
How very much her friendship meant.

Kay's passing has left an empty space
Nothing and no one will ever fill;
It's a place in each of our hearts
That belongs to her, and always will.
