Carmen M. Aponte

Harvey, LO, USA

Carmen has been a poetic late bloomer. Although a retiree from the business world, she's studying to become a legal/medical transcriptionist. Her poetry has been published by the National Library of Poetry and she's planning to published a collection of poems in Spanish entitled ''Los Azares de Mi Vida Interior'' that she dedicated to her friends. Carmen believes that writing poetry soothes her soul and mitigates the ups and downs for her spiritual life.

Dreams

If life is but a dream,
Where from doth it spring?
Aren't dreams ethereal/
Are they real?
A dream as such
is nothing much,
but a relate
of daily events,
if good to explore, if bad to ignore.
Life is more than ad ream,
it's a journey
form the day
we're born till the day we die.
To live to dream is not like
to dream to live,
There's the rub,
DREAMS MAKE OR BREAK US!

Ode To Love

When in Love,
together or apart,
what to do?
LOVE is a gift from God,
it's understanding,
it's compassion,
it can climb mountains,
it can dwell in the prairie.
LOVE is the architect of mercy,
the healer of the soul,
and
after life's pitfalls
the redeemer of our loss!
When love is gone,
what's left tin the heart
but emptiness and vacuum!

Symphony In Red

I can't believe how four
sounds red to me!
Am I seeing red
wherever I turn my eyes,
or is this an aberration
of my mind?
Funny, pretty red!
Red when one is in the red,
When our eyes are red form crying,
and the cheeks turn red
from the icy cold of winter.
Bloody, bloody red
from the red madness of our world.
Red, more an more red;
all seems to be red,
as if in life merry go round
only red were to be found!
