My beloved twin brother and I were born on 21 November, 1924. I have four children: Bryan, Sara, Thomas and Alison and eight grandchildren: Emily, Hannah, Kathryn, Matthew, Timothy, Jessica, Thomas and Alex. I have been a widower since 1980. During the war, I served as navigator in the RAF. On demob. I went to St. Mary's University College, Strawberry Hill. After leaving college I took up teaching and retired as a Deputy Headmaster in 1981. My hope is that people will get as much enjoyment out of reading my poetry as I have had composing it. |
A Winsome LassO lovely maid whose gentle breast,Of many endearing charms possessed; With eyes of purest ray serene Of azure blue, soft touched with green. Rustic brown like gossamer her hair, And roseate cheeks not lined with care. Full bowed her lips of rubious hue, Moist blushed like early morning dew. Swan like her neck with skin of daisy white; Soft lobed her ears, part hid from sight. Her shoulders stooped, but not in servile mood, The sculptured frame from hallowed nature hewed. So shapely limbed with lithesome figure; Toil worn, but still brim full of vigour. Pale, slender hands with long fingered skill, Cool and smooth to touch, yet tiny still. A nymphean body with health of gladsome ray; Her welcome presence to gild each happy day. May perpetual joys around her always spring, With rapturous blessings each new year bring. |
Daughters"Dad, I've met this lovely boy,""I know he's some one new." How could I resist her ploy? When she added, very coy; "And he's just like you!" |
The Wind of LoveHave you felt the wind of loveSoft brush against your ear? Was it sent from heaven above To whisper loud and clear? Did it cause your cheeks to blush
Did you suffer hunger pains?
Did your eyes reveal the feeling
Can distance from your love divide
Thus when the wind of love doth blow,
