Bonnie Lee (Morris) Holman

Chase, British Columbia

I started writing poems at age 9. There were three older ladies, friends, and I wrote poems for special days. Since then, I usually write my own greeting cards. I am retired, but worked first as a stenographer, then I taught kindergarten for 7 years. After that I became an institutional cook. I have had my poetry published in local newspapers and by The National Library of Poetry. I had one poem published in The Christian Life magazine many years ago. I have written two novels unpublished and continue to write poems for many occasions.

May Day

I have made a basket of flowers
to please my ladies wish.
Since I don't have a basket,
I have put it in a dish.

Puddle of Life

We,
In our little puddle of life,
Get so tied and bound,
with our
Desire, wants, needs,
And Yes
Our happiness and joy,
That we never look beyond the edges,
And forget
Out there in the sea of life,
Are millions waiting
For
A smile, a cheering word,
Or to be told that Jesus loves them.
God help us to get out of our little puddle.

My Prayer of Bereavement

Lord, may I have the power
To face the future with a smile,
To have the faith to clearly see
That life is still worthwhile.
To grieve not overlong - be brave and true
To You, in everything that I might say or do,
To have your gracious love to keep me strong.
To feel your presence all day long,
To speak to you in prayer - so that I may
Emerge from this sorrow, to a brighter day.
