Littleton, North Carolina

I was born in the small town of Littleton. I have been interested in poetry ever since junior high school. I won an essay about our town in 1995. I also had one of my poems published in our local newspaper. I also have entered poetry in The National Library of Poetry's contests for the last two years. But it was a real honor when I was elected into The International Poetry Hall of Fame. I would also love to receive letters from new friends. At this time I am not employed, but I am hoping someday to seek a career in writing. I graduated high school in 1966. I am still a house keeper for three of my sons.

EVERYWHERE

If you're ever sad and worried,
and just don't care, just bow
your head in a silent prayer. Never
just sit and cry. Just keep your
faith in Jesus. You can make
it if you try.

Whatever you've done wrong, please
make amends. If you ever have
a problem, just share it with a friend.
Jesus sends his blessings, they
are here and He's there watching,
for He is everywhere.

HE WATCHES OVER US

Lord please shed your light upon us.
With your love and tenderness care.
As we count our many blessings.
Each time we bow our heads in prayer.
Lord please shed your love amongst us.
Please keep us safe from harm.
Spread your loving arms around us.
Bless us and keep us warm.
Lord stand by us, and never leave us.
We have so many crosses to bare.
Guide and teach us Lord.
For this knowledge we all can share.
Lord we know you're our friend.
For in you we find trust.
For Jesus Christ our savior, he watches over us.

WHEN YOUR HOPE IS GONE

My heart grew more fonder.
Each time I saw you at your best.
So happy and wholesome.
And filled with cheerfulness.
Then suddenly you began to falter.
And your eyes grew dim
But you'd always remember to give praise to him
Then slowly, as you grew weaker each day.
Tears came to my eyes each time, I'd see you kneel and pray.
For life is short, and oh so brief.
To see you in such pain, brought my heart such grief.
So gather around you, all of you love ones.
Don't just sit there all alone.
There's nothing left but sadness, when your hope is gone.

THE GOLDEN YEARS

Suffer not an illusion , Keep your mind on what is real.
Start right from the beginning. For time does not stand still.
We have to face our problems day in and out.
That's the only way to find out, what life is about.
Think fast on tomorrow, and everything it bring.
Put whatever you've learned to good use.
Or your life won't mean a thing.
I am not trying to be dramatic.
I am just telling you what's true.
Be kind to others, and everything will be better for you.
Be grateful in the coming, of your old age.
It is only another stage,
Stifle all of your fears. Then you will look forward,
when you reach your golden years.
