Betty Halverson

Spokane, Washington

I was in nursing, off and on, for 32 years. I have three daughters five grandchildren, one great grandchild. Poetry has been of interest to me since I was quite young. I write fiction - also a lot of different experiences that have happened in my life. Always trying to give comfort to some one - put a smile on their face - and love in their hearts, and memories. I have two trophies, several awards, and several honorable mentions. Plus three anthology books. I have written two songs that were published and went nation wide. Poetry is with me forever!!

Father Of Mine

Life has many ways, of telling our age
Each more interesting, with each new page
But in my heart, you will never grow old
Dear Father of mine, with many stories to be told

With patience and love, you guided me
Bringing me up, the best I could be
You worked hard and long, even after I was grown
Thank you dear Father, for the love you have shown

So much to be learned, from your experience
All you went through, all your endurance
I will always treasure, what you have done
Dear Father of mine, you're number one

So often this child, has failed to say
How much you're loved, each passing day
And I thank God, He picked you to be
The Greatest Father, ever for me

My Daughters

Through the forests, down by the ponds
I sit upon a rock, in the early dawn
Reflection of images, upon the waters
Bring back fond memories, of my daughters

Like when they were small, and used to play
Planning some thing new, for the next day
Running in the house, running back out
Just letting me know, of their where abouts

So much of the past, one can still miss
Like taking care of mishaps, you could cure with a kiss
The new bike, they first learned to ride
All their pride showing, fear they did hide

All in all, they grew up so fast
But tucked in my heart, are memories that last
Of my daughters, they will always be
In memory only, little children to me

Mother Of Mine

How do I tell you, from this daughter
Oh mother of mine, who couldn't have worked harder
To make my life, as best as could be
How much your loved, for loving me

Things you wanted, so many times
You put aside, to help me and mine
Even when I was growing up
A back you never turned, a door you never shut

How do I tell you, how much this means
Oh mother of mine, who always beams
With a loving heart, with open arms
Caring for all, with all your charms

You made life, so very good
For me you did, all you could
You cared for me, through all bad times
Your loved so much, oh mother of mine
