Graduated: Mansfield Madison I have written poetry most of my life. My favorite poets are Helen Steiner Rice, and Edgar Allen Poe. I feel poetry expresses ones inner thoughts brought to the surface and put into print. I wrote a commercial for a local Co. 'Jones Potato Chips', a few years back. And also a poem for local Girl Scout troop, Stepping Up. Love to read, sew, and cook. Poems published in Etches in Time, and Dappled in Sunlight. Also nominated for poet of year for 1997.

Memories

What happened to the memories of yesterday?
Did you store them neatly away,
Or maybe you scattered them around in your mind.
Only to be lost by the ages of time.
Bring it all in the open, and maybe you'll see.
A memory or two that used to be,
Maybe a love letter to someone then,
Or possible thoughts of a childhood friend.
Keep the memories close to you
And no matter what else you ever do,
Don't ever let them fade away,
Just save them for another day.

Fast Lane

Living in the fast lane should
not be your style.
Listen to me for a  little while,
When we were children,
We used to say.
"Mom bake some cookies
For me today",
Now times have changed
We sadly fear,
"Now it's "mom give me some bread, I'm out of here!"

Courage Is

I'll fight like a soldier,
I'll fight like a man.
All a guy can do is the best he can,
Even though man is free,
God has planned his destiny,
When duty calls and God takes my hand,
I'll be ready for the promise land.
