Bette Roan

Pittsfield, Massachusetts

Bette was always interested in writing and hoping someday one of her poems would be made into a song. She has a long association with the music business, being an owner of a music, TV and Video store. Bette has had a children's book published and many poems in The National Library of Poetry. She has had a keen interest in television and made a national commercial which aired on the Orange Bowl and Bobby Vinton show. Bette intends to continue writing, as it is a source of inspiration and relaxation and fulfillment of a young ambition.

Our Flag

Our flag rides high
Waving her colors towards the sky
She is our symbol of hope
She is our symbol of pride.

Strike up the band and join the parade
You'll find our flag leads the way
Men salute in deepest respect, hands to heart
And over the eye as our flag passes by.

When our Astronauts landed on the moon,
Their first thought was to plant the flag
For the entire world to see,
We were first from the land of the free.

Peace time and War time
On sea, on land and in the air
Our Armed Forces treat Old Glory
With tender loving care.

Our Flag is everywhere
No amount of burning or desecration
Can kill the love of the Flag
By millions in this Nation.

"I pledge allegiance to the Flag"

We Know You're There

In flowers that bloom and the sky so high
The roaring sea passing by,
We know You're there - You're everywhere.
In the trees and the wind
The sun and the storms.
Fresh dew on the grass in early morn.
We know You're there - You're everywhere.
I raise my voice in praise.
In thanks for all the gifts You gave.
You know our faults, but love us all.
And on each, shed Your shining rays.
You fill the world with miracles and love.
Please walk with us and keep us straight.
Dear God, extend your hand and decide our fate.
We kneel and pray and often say,
But for the Grace of God we'd lose our way.
We know You're there. You're everywhere.
Dear God. You're everywhere.

Moon Love

The man in the moon
Seems to glide in the sky.
He has a sly grin
and a wink to his eye.

What makes him so happy?
What makes him glow?
Could there be a lady moon,
that we don't know?
