Berthe N. Welch

Saignaw, Michigan

In 1943, Berthe became the sole survivor of an airplane crash that also took her baby son. Then in the 1970's, she lost her sight due to hereditary blindness. Despite severe burns, a crippled hand, and being blind, she has dedicated her life to God with her inspiring Christian poetry. Every week she leads a Bible study group and is available twenty-four hours a day for prayer requests and Christian counseling. She also has written a book that is currently being edited for publication. Berthe's focus is to be God's helpful witness, never helpless. She sees with her heart.

CHANGED LIVES

What makes the difference for changed lives?
It's you in Christ, and He in you-
First believe in the living Christ - invite Him in,
And the Holy Spirit's Power shall then begin.
The Bible's the source for changes to take place -
The more of the Word, the sweeter the taste.
Hidden treasures of wisdom can be yours, my friend,
God will supply them - there's never an end.
When the storms of life appear - and they will -
You ride out the storm until calm and still.
Changed lives turn selfish greed into cheerful giving;
Hate and its by-products into Christ's image of living.
Changes are evident by displaying love, joy and peace.
Walking in the Spirit, God gives the increase.
Then that blessed hope of knowing you're heaven bound;
In this life God's help can always be found.
Take God's gifts of life - whatever you do -
For He loves sharing His many blessings with you.
What makes the difference for changed lives?
It's you in Christ, and He in you.

ALWAYS TOGETHER

My Faith rests on God's promises, they're faithful and true,
The Lord goes with me everywhere, and in all that I do.

I felt of God's presence as the sun kissed my face,
Knew in my weakness, I had His strength and His grace.

Entering my secret place to be alone with the Lord,
Prayed, paused, then listened, heard Him speak by His Word.

Went to the doctor, lo and behold, God was there,
Sharing our faith, Jesus' sweet Spirit soon filled the air.

Knowing God's children in whom Christ lives His life through,
And out of their well of love, freely from it I drew.

In the Valley of Weeping God comforted me in my sadness,
Then poured me out a blessing, He delighted in my gladness.

God laid on me this burden to plant His precious Seeds,
That others know the Savior and live with Him indeed.

I know my sins are forgiven for Jesus paid them all,
Therefore, we're always together in great things or in small.

I've been through many changes, some losses and some gains,
But the Lord never changes, His Kingdom shall remain.

Yes, my Redeemer lives for He lives His life in me,
The best is yet to come, then my Savior's face I'll see!

GOD'S UNDYING LOVE AND HIS MERCY

Reflecting on the past today, and my tomorrows, this I know . . .
God's love and mercy will be with me wherever I go.

In times past my knowledge of Jesus was so very dim,
In God's love and mercy, he sent someone to lead me to Him.

Convicted by the Spirit, responding in faith to believe,
Becoming a child of God, eternal life I received.

Now I too must have love and mercy for the lost and condemned,
Live in Jesus' light, go and tell, and lead them to Him.

God has not promised a rose-strewed pathway that will always be,
But He has promised His undying love and mercy will be there for you and me.
