Belmont W. Adams

Falmouth, ME, USA

Belmont was born May 18, 1909 at Cumberland Center, Maine, USA. He attended Greely High School there, Class of 1926. He received his BA degree from Bates College, Lewiston, ME in 1931. Belmont taught Latin and Ancient History for a year at South Paris High School. He then spent 40 years in actuarial, accounting and systems and as an assistant to the Controller in the home office of Portland, ME of what is now UNUM, a major insurance company. This added more letters to the BA degree: FLMI (Fellow Life Management Institute), and CDP (Certified Data Processor), and involved leading parts in some business organizations, promotion of Dvorak keyboard and other volunteer activity. Belmont married Marion Wade in 1931, and daughter Helen was born Dec. 24, 1934. Helen is now Mrs. James E. Dennison, in Lamberville, NJ and mother of three grown-up children, one of whom, Jon, is a former chef at the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, and more recently the father of angel Rebecca (pictured here with me). Belmont's first marriage ended in 1956. He married Thelma Hillson in June 1958. They lived very happily in Scarborough, ME until November 1996 when they moved into a retirement community in Falmouth, ME. Unfortunately, Thelma passed away on Sept. 30, 1997 after a bad fall and 6 horrible weeks in bed, with treatment for terminal cancer. So Belmont is alone for the first time in 66 years, but finds much around that is wonderful, and makes the best of it. As time permits, he watches with great interest the progress toward a worldwide religion, based on known facts, and nothing honestly controversial. He says, "Natural law is Almighty, claims nothing that is impossible, but offers all possible help to us as we try to make the best possible world."

It Happened In Lambertville

All the world will know what happened in Lambertville.
Just three weeks into January, in nineteen hundred ninety-seven,
A lovely little angel flew all the way from heaven,
And nestled in Donna's arms in a lovely loving way.
And when Jon and Donna saw her, sure she looked so fit and dear,
They said, "We're GOING TO KEEP HER--for she looks so lovely here."
So they sprinkled her with stardust, from her home in heaven
For she's a little angel, and always bound to be.
She will live with love and helpfulness, and grow up
Making dreams come true - for herself and all her family.

Primal Religion

Out in the forest last night, my dear,
Facing a brute, I trembled with fear.
The sauro, coming on, increasingly near--
I yelled to the god you told me about --
No time left - just time for one shout --
One breath, one word -- "Da-a-ay-Oh!!"
I knew I would die----------and pront-to!!
But out of the sky a lightning came!!
Instantly, that sauro dead became!!
My dear, you're right - your god is real!!
Dao can do anything, even surreal!!
Go! Tell all of our clan - Come here!!
We'll join, and worship Dao, and never know fear!!

The Second Of November

Is there anybody now alive,
Who knew that day in forty-five,
When Angel Annie came to earth?
Her lovely mother, giving birth,
Gave heartfelt thanks, and said
There never was a better kid.
Not even she could comprehend,
And see the stars portend
That this angel would grow
And increasingly show
The love and power that would
Bring health and joy to every being -
As a perfect angel should ----
That's what we now are seeing!
