Barbara Moyer

Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

Poetry is a wonderful outlet for me and has been since my early teens. I have published several poems in local magazines and also by the National Library of Poetry. Since my retirement last year, I enjoyed a course in creative writing with ICS (International Correspondence School). At present, I am working on a manuscript, regarding an experience I was involved in.

Footprints

Cold grey marble
Soldiers erect,
displaying
their
etches.
Black withered roses
bow heads,
praying in
silence.
Embedded footprints
crackling frost,
leaving
powdered
dust.

Made From Scratch

Cupped palms lathering mounds of oozing enchantment,
dimpled knuckles squishing games of teeter totter,
tousled red hair glowing above budding determination,
sun - kissed toes stomping an island of flutted edges,
splattering cobwebs skirting pale blue lighthouses;
triumphal giggles chiming a carousel of innocence.

The Trunk

Octogenarian figure kneeling nostalgic solitude,
hesitant fingers unwrapping precious bundles,
perfumed aromas opening delicate echoes,
skeletal arms caressing battenburg lace,
pressed violets stirring autumn memories,
butterfly ribbons hugging blushed whispers,
sepia photograph peering silent dignity;
buried emotions
surfacing
celadon
eyes.
